Technical features
- The solenoid tube assembly is fatigue rated for 5000 psi (350 bar) service.
- In the open position, the valve effectively auto closes when the flow direction is from Port 1 to Port 2, allowing only about 0.7 gpm (2.64 L/min.) at a 5000 psi (350 bar) differential.
- All ports are rated to a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar).
- The check function offers very low leakage rates.
- The valve is available with a manual unscrew-type override option on the normally closed configuration (L control) and a manual push-type override option on the normally open configuration (L control). These options are fatigue rated for 5000 psi (350 bar).
- The metal coil nut is a functional feature of the valve and should be correctly installed for proper performance of the valve.
- Coil connector options offer ratings up to IP67. See individual coil product pages for details.
- The cartridge installation torque of 30 lbf ft (40 Nm) is required for best performance.
- Coils can be mounted on the tube in either direction.

Direct acting or pilot operated - what do I use?
Direct-acting valves are used to prevent over pressure, and pilot-operated valves are used to regulate pressure. If you are unsure, use a direct-acting valve. Sun's direct acting valves are very fast, dirt tolerant, stable, and robust. Sun's pilot-operated valves are moderately fast, they have a low pressure rise vs. flow curve, and they are easy to adjust.
